Das Boot German Wine Dinner

     This evening, I went to Das Boot with my dad and brother. I've been there numerous times before but have never ordered any of their wines. 

     For dinner, I ordered one of my favorite dishes: nurnberger sausages with mashed potatoes, gravy, and a biscuit. I couldn't decide what type of wine that I wanted because I usually pair beer with German food. 

     I made my decision by thinking back to my childhood and what type of drinks went well with German food before I was able to order beer. I immediately remembered that the flavor of apples always paired well with German food and I had always ordered the apple spritzer (apple juice combined with Sprite). So, I decided to order a drink they had that was made with apples (I admittedly don't remember the name of the drink). 

     The drink had the same type of crispness as a white wine with the same spritzey mouth-feel of champagne. The apple flavor balanced very well with this consistency and, more importantly, paired awesomely with the food. It seemed I had made the right decision. Hopefully this doesn't lead me into an appletini craze Lol
